A sauce like no other, Dr. Scotch Bonne is a tribute to culture, community, healing, and flavor— rooted in the soulful cooking of my grandmother and reimagined through the lens of street art and modern culinary creativity.
This journey began in 2019, at the height of the pandemic, when I built a greenhouse from scratch to grow Scotch bonnet peppers—the same fiery, fruity ingredient my grandmother used in her famous mango salsa. Her Belizean cooking was my anchor growing up, and her love always came through in every meal. When I couldn’t find those familiar flavors in stores, I grew them myself. Cooking, gardening, and creating became my sanctuary while the world was falling apart. It was peace. It was purpose.
The salsa that started it all was my modern take on her salsa fresca: tangy green mango, pickled onions, earthy spices—and of course, Scotch bonnets. It quickly became a hit with friends and family. People couldn’t get enough. And so, Dr. Scotch Bonne was born—a company created not just to bottle sauce, but to bottle connection, soul, and creativity.
The name tells the story: "Dr." for the healing journey I experienced through food, rooted in my biochemistry background and my time on my grandfather’s farm. "Scotch Bonne" for the signature pepper, and also a play on the French word bonne, meaning "good"—because this sauce is always good, and always made to feel good. The logo, a bone pierced through a pepper, symbolizes that flavor goes deep— it touches soul, heritage, and heat.
Influenced by the rebellious spirit of street art, our visuals are funky, raw, and expressive— because street art, like soul food, is for the people. It's a form of resistance, communication, and healing. This brand is about creating something nourishing, loud, and rooted—something that makes you feel, and makes you remember.
Our first hit flavor, Truff OG, brings that nostalgic, tangy mango salsa to a new level: a kick of Scotch bonnet heat, followed by a bold flush of umami from black truffle that lingers with every bite. It’s best on eggs, marinades, or fish tacos—but truly, it’s for anything that needs to wake the hell up.
Mission: To remind people that everything is temporary—even pain. Just like heat, it burns, but it fades. And in that moment between pleasure and pain, there’s flavor. Deep, soulful, unforgettable flavor. That’s what we bottle.
